Desolation Row video #4 Mikey

(via dead-skin-on-trial)

I have always been extremely sensitive to those that have gender identity issues as I feel like I have gone through it as well, if even on a smaller scale. I have always identified a fair amount with the female gender, and began at a certain point in MCR to express this through my look and performance style. So it’s no surprise that all of my inspirations and style influences were pushing gender boundaries. Freddie Mercury, Bowie, Iggy, early glam, T-Rex. Masculinity to me has always made me feel like it wasn’t right for me.

Get to know Patrick Stump.

When he talks about making Hesitant Alien, it often sounds like he was pissing about like a musical Willy Wonka, fiddling with things until they scratched an almost childlike itch to create. He was able to revisit the music that shaped him, and chase the inspirations he wanted—David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Blur, Joy Division. It’s one thing having earned the right to do whatever the hell he likes (and he has), but Gerard is also reveling in a far simpler fact: this is brand new, and there are no boundaries and no preordained expectations.

I don’t mind if someone thinks I’m a sell out. I go to bed happy knowing I do what I do and I’m not doing anything for reasons of money, and if I were trying to pick up chicks, I’m doing a horrible job. And if I wanted to drive awesome cars, I’m doing a really bad job there too.
